Already know what what air conditioning unit you’re looking for?

Types of Air Conditioning Units:

  • Wall Mounted

Wall-Mounted Split Units are very popular in the UK, because they can be extremely discreet - the ability to place them high and out of the way means they can easily blend into the background of any space. They are typically cheap and easy to install, which also makes them a fantastic option. They can offer both heating and cooling to optimise the climate control of your space.

  • Floor Mounted

A floor mounted air conditioning unit is useful for when there is no wall space - so is commonly found in spaces such as convenience stores, dining halls, and comms rooms. It delivers a very powerful airflow, and is quick to install - which can save you money! It can offer both heating and cooling, to keep your space at the optimum temperature.

  • Under Ceiling Split Units

Under Ceiling Split Units consist of an outdoor unit and a ceiling-mounted indoor unit. The air is distributed into your space by the indoor unit, with complete thermostat control so you can determine your optimum temperature - hot or cold. They are great for buildings with little space in the room or in the roof compartment, as they can be easily mounted to most ceilings.

  • Cassette

Cassette Air-Conditioning units are indoor units which have been designed to fit into your ceiling space. They are compact, easy to install, and great for grid ceilings in spaces such as schools and offices. They can offer both heating and cooling for full climate control

  • Ducted Split Units

Ducted Split Units may be recognisable to you as the systems which are signposted by grills in the ceiling. With this system, all works are in the ceiling, either in the existing roof cavity or a specially constructed fake ceiling. This ensures that they are discreet and versatile, making this a well-used system. They can offer both heating and cooling to help you control the temperature of your space.

  • Integrated VRV/VRF

Integrated VRV/VRF systems often confuse people, due to the two names used to describe them. VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) refer to the same system, but VRV has been trademarked by the original designers of the system so VRF is more commonly used. This is a sophisticated, multi-unit system which consists of an outdoor unit and several indoor units, with refrigerant piping running from the outdoors to the indoors using Refnet Joints and communication wiring. It can offer solely heating, or solely cooling, or both combined.

  • Geothermal Systems

Geothermal systems use the ground source to provide cool or hot air, and keep the air fresh. This can be a great cost-effective option, as you can benefit from free and renewable geothermal energy. The ability to provide both hot and cold air means you can have complete climate control.

  • Heat-Exchange Central

A Heat Exchange system consists of multiple units, which compresses the water, leading to a drop in temperature, therefore allowing for cool air to be piped through the systems. This system can provide both heating and cooling to keep your space at the optimum temperature.

  • Water Chilled Systems

In a chilled-water system, the entire air conditioner is installed on the roof or behind the building. It cools water between 4.4-7.2 degrees celsius, which is then piped throughout the building and connected to air handlers. This is great for buildings where many individual rooms must be controlled separately, such as hotels. This can be installed to provide both heat and cooling.

Ventilation Solutions

Air Handling Units

Air Handling Units are useful for buildings such as warehouses or heavily-insulated energy-efficient buildings which require ventilation systems to maintain a constant temperature and keep the air fresh.

These models are often designed to be environmentally-friendly and efficient, and the benefits of keeping the air fresh in your space are numerous; from lower health risks to protecting your property.

Duct Air

Duct Air systems are made up of ducting, fans and filters, which work together to improve the air quality of your space - removing dust, pollen, odours, humidity and more.

They are commonly used in restaurants, kitchens and basements, and keep your space safe and comfortable.

Heat Recovery

Heat recovery ventilation is a great way to maximise efficiency in your space by recovering otherwise wasted heat to reduce the heating and cooling demands of your building.

Working between two different sources at different temperatures, it can recover between 60-95% of the heat in exhaust air.

FAQs

  • Is it worth getting Home Air Conditioning?

Air conditioning units are a great addition to your home for those hotter summer months when having the windows open just won’t do and you’re struggling to sleep! As you are able to close your windows this leads to added security, and prohibits insects entering your home while still keeping the house cool.

  • How does Commercial Air Conditioning differ from Home Air Conditioning

The main difference between commercial air conditioning and home air conditioning is the amount of power used. Commercial air conditioning units require more power as they will usually be serving a much larger space.

  • Do air conditioning units provide cooling and heating?

Air conditioning units can provide heat to your home as well as cooling it down.

  • Do I need planning permission before having air conditioning installed?

Most air conditioning unit installations don’t require planning permission as it will fall under Permitted Development Rights.

  • How often do I need an air conditioning service?

It is recommended that your air conditioning unit is serviced once year to ensure that there are no defects, and it is performing at its fullest.
